Northern Heights Guiding is owned and operated by Hakuba Local, James Robb, who has called Hakuba home for the last 16 years. James’ team of fully certified and English speaking guides are Hakuba backcountry experts and pride themselves on offering the highest level of service.

What to Bring: All our backcountry tours will require touring equipment (touring skis with skins, splitboard with skins or snowshoes) , avalanche safety gear (beacon, probe, shovel) backpack (25L minimum) , lunch & snacks, water, warm clothes, helmet, goggles,sunglasses, money for lift(s).

Participant Skills: These tours are geared for those who can competently ski and board in powder and variable snow conditions.

Tour Details: Backcountry day tours can usually get 2 – 3 runs a day and upwards of 800~1500 vertical meters hiking in a day, depending on our locations and group level.
