Who says a ski holiday can’t come with a world-class culinary experience? Hakuba uniquely combines exceptional powder snow with Japan’s rich culinary traditions. Savor fresh seafood delivered daily from the nearby Japan Sea, alongside ramen, teppanyaki, soba, and elevated Western cuisines like Italian and French. Here are some of Hakuba’s finest dining experiences. Below is a curated selection of the very best dining experiences in Hakuba.
Located inside the elegant Phoenix Hotel, Mimi’s offers a true fine dining experience. Run by husband and wife team Kazu & Yuki Shinamoto, the couple brings a passion and focus to serving the highest quality food made from the best locally sourced produce. Trained in Italy, Kazu serves classic European dishes reimagined for the Japanese palate. The locally procured black pork is out-of-this-world while Yuki’s desserts are the best in the Hakuba Valley. I recommend ordering the rack of lamb dinner with a red wine and a slice of amazing apple pie for desert.
With great care and respect for nature, Hybrid showcases the freshest produce, harvested from local farms and the surrounding mountains. From vibrant vegetables bursting with flavor to succulent local meats and fish, each ingredient tells a story of Hakuba’s rich terroir.
